Jackson Purchase Medical Center Issues Hospital Update Following Mayfield Storms
December 12, 2021
Jackson Purchase Medical Center (JPMC) extends our thoughts and prayers to all those who have been affected by the devastating storms in Mayfield and the surrounding region. On Friday night, JPMC activated our emergency response plan to ensure our hospital is well-equipped to serve the community during this critical time of need.
As part of our emergency response plan, JPMC has extra staff and resources to accommodate higher patient volumes, if needed. Hospital leaders are working around the clock to ensure that the facility will have the appropriate capacity and supplies to continue caring for patients and supporting staff in the days ahead.
JPMC continues to work closely with our local Emergency Management office, first responders and community partners in Mayfield and Graves County to collaborate on appropriate response protocols and provide updates to the community. We intend to share regular updates via media alerts, the hospital website and social media platforms in the immediate days ahead.
The hospital sustained no physical damage, and the Emergency Department remains open and fully operational with backup power. No one should delay in receiving needed healthcare services. We are here and ready to serve our community during this time.
There are four area shelters open and available for those needing housing, food and clothing: Mayfield High School; Way Center (Wingo); Fancy Farm Knights of Columbus Hall; and Wingo Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Catalyst Community Center is providing essentials, including baby items, blankets, food and other essentials to those in need. Other local resources are being shared on the Graves County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
Please continue to check the hospital’s website and Facebook page for additional updates.
